This is not a new fragrance to my collection, but it is one that I’ve grown to thoroughly embrace the more I’ve smelled it. While technically it falls into the family of Rose/Oud combinations, it is totally unique in the way it finds an incredible balance between these two primary notes. I find Rose and Oud fragrances, in general, fall into two camps. The jammy rose that sits atop the somewhat barnyard leaning Oud, or the heavy, heavy animalic Oud that is just slightly softened by rose notes, but frankly is at the heart a major blast of strong and potent Oud.
So how is Dead of Night different? Well, it is all about finding balance and harmony and allowing the fragrance to evolve on the skin before drawing too many conclusions. It’s also how the supporting ingredients of Violet Leaf, Sandalwood and Amber notes are used to tame the Oud without losing the qualities that make Oud, well Oud.
